Fungi have existed for millions of years longer than plants and humans, but it’s only recently that scientists started to uncover their magical properties in improving cognitive function, immune system response and more. So, how can fungi help you?
Fungi was one of the first organism on earth billions of years ago, before mankind even exist. Fungi is one of the five kingdoms in the world today, including plants, animals, protist, and bacteria. For a long time, fungi were classified as part of the plant kingdom. But as fungi were studied, it became apparent that they deserved to be classified in their own kingdom, as they actually share more similarities with animals than with plants. There are estimated to be more than 1.5 million types of fungi, and more than 90 percent of those varieties have not yet been recognised or named. Under the fungi umbrella, you will find molds like those found on cheese, yeasts used to make bread and beer, and those less known and are used for their antibiotic properties like penicillin. The most widely known ones are mushrooms.
